Part-Time/Full-Time Editor

Job Description

Wordvice, an international English editing company, is seeking qualified and experienced language editors to join our team of revision experts.
We specialize in editing academic research articles, dissertations, theses, admissions essays, and professional documents. Our objective is to proofread and enhance the technical and organizational aspects of the writing while preserving the author’s voice and intended meaning.
To maintain this high standard of revision quality and consistently meet the expectations of our client authors, we rely on outstanding editors who strive for excellence and are willing to work within our editing guidelines to meet the varying needs of our academic, admissions, and business clients.

Responsibilities

  • Proofread academic papers, admissions essays, and other documents for grammar and mechanics issues
  • Apply style editing to enhance vocabulary, readability, and phrasing while retaining the author’s intended meaning
  • Leave marginal comments explaining some revisions and providing tips for writing improvement; include an introductory “Overall Comment” to the author
  • Work with our Project Managers to manage schedules and meet deadlines
  • Respond to order notifications promptly
  • Reply to client messages and answer any questions or requests they have about the editing of their document
  • Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications
  • Native fluency in English
  • Enrollment in or completion of a graduate degree program
  • Minimum two years of applied editing experience
  • Knowledge and application of various formatting styles such as APA, AMA, MLA, and Chicago
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word and its “track changes” feature
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • A keen eye for errors in writing
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Be an independent and self-motivated worker
  • Have previous experience at a professional editing company
  • Be able to apply journal-specific formatting guidelines upon request
  • Have an academic background and/or extensive editing experience in the fields of medicine, engineering, or other biomedical and natural science domain
  • Be able to meet frequent deadlines and accept ASAP orders
  • Be passionate about writing and editing

  • Payment: Editors are paid monthly via their PayPal accounts (Note: we cannot hire applicants residing in countries where PayPal does not operate.)
